Emerging Leaders Program 2024
MASCA’s Emerging Leaders program is an 18-Month comprehensive and dynamic initiative designed to cultivate and empower the next generation of leaders. Over the course of this program, participants engage in a series of monthly training sessions, to enhance their leadership skills, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities. These sessions cover a wide range of topics, from effective communication and conflict resolution to innovative problem-solving and project management. In addition to the structured training sessions, participants are assigned thought-provoking homework assignments that encourage critical thinking and application of the concepts learned. One of the program's key features is its mentorship component, where emerging leaders are paired with experienced mentors who provide guidance, support, and invaluable insights. This holistic approach ensures that participants not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also gain practical experience and personalized advice, fostering their growth into capable and visionary leaders.
MASCA is providing the opportunity for all correctional and community correctional professionals to become leaders in the field of public safety. We are a non-profit professional organization with members from Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. We are a professional organization for those involved in court administration, juvenile justice, probation and parole, institutional and community corrections as well as for citizens with a vital interest in the juvenile and criminal justice fields. - Do you want to know what motivates you as a leader? The “Wake Up! You Are A Leader!" Emerging Leaders Training Program is open to all correctional and community correctional professionals interested in leadership or who are new to leadership to develop the knowledge and competencies required of effective leaders. The training is on-site taking place in all MASCA participating states, with a kickoff at the MASCA conference on June 2nd to 5th, 2024 at The Hotel Hershey. The program is intended for professionals from diverse backgrounds, experience, and is applicable to those who possess experience exercising leadership and to those who have not.
The curriculum addresses who you are as a leader, how to develop and enhance communication as you take your responsibilities as a leader. Participants will address the following competencies critical to successful development as leaders by exploring the following:
A cornerstone of the MASCA and its role is to develop strong and open leaders in the field of corrections and community corrections. The Emerging Leadership Training Program will cultivate great leaders.
GOALS OF THE MASCA EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM LEADERSHIP - Provide participants with a fundamental understanding of what is required of a dynamic leader in the field of corrections and community corrections arena.
- Increase participants' knowledge of who they are as future leaders.
- Develop participants’ skills for navigating through various levels of the political system in organizations, including organizational units, and sub-service delivery systems to advance the objectives of corrections and community corrections.
- Provide a strong sense of ownership as a leader in today’s climate in making positive changes in how one leads in the field of corrections and community corrections.
- Enhance participants’ professional growth through sustained interaction with a national network of community corrections leaders, managers, and executives.
- Provide the participants with an understanding of the importance of succession planning both in a correctional and community corrections agency and a professional association through a visionary process that fosters planning for the future leadership and success of the agency and the association.
Those selected to participate in the Emerging Leaders Program will receive 50% off the conference registration rate, along with free MASCA membership.
